Right Relations Committee Prioritizes Covenant

The Right Relations Committee is now a committee that reports to the Board of Trustees (as of the September Congregational Meeting). We are prioritizing the following activities: 1) re-covenanting (creating a process for re-affirming First Church’s Right Relations covenant; and 2) supporting the Restorative Circles practice group to create a deep bench of trained volunteers to help resolve church conflicts …
 
Why do we need to re-do our right relations covenant? We did it *just five years* ago(!) First Church has a covenant passed by congregational vote in 2018 (posted outside the sanctuary and on the church website). Best Practices has us ask ourselves on a *regular basis* “Is it still relevant?” and “Is it still inspiring to me?” We stand on the shoulders of our predecessors and we value and honor their work, and this will be an ongoing and regular renewal and review process. More details in the coming months.
 
If you participated in Restorative Circles intro, demo, and/or training, you are invited to continue our work together on October 30 @ 11:15-12:15p at First Church. At that time, we will set up regular meetings/practices, options for alternate meetings/practices, a soft plan for moving forward, and a light practice. Be a part of making First Church consistently apply deep listening as we move into our future together!
