Catherine Roma started UMOJA Men's Chorus at Warren Correctional Institution in 1993. She's been at it ever since and now conducts three prison choirs in her retirement (Hope Thru Harmony Women's Choir at Dayton Correctional, UBUNTU Men's Chorus at London Correctional and KUJI Men's Chorus at Marion Correction-al). Roma will present works by residents (video footage included) and share pivotal moments of her choral music-making behind bars. She will be joined by accomplished musician Norman Whiteside, recently released after 31 years in prison, who sang in UMOJA for four years.
