On May 31 and June 1, 1921, white residents attacked black residents and business in the Greenwood District of Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Often called the “single worst incident of racial violence in American history,” the attack destroyed more than 35 square blocks of what was then the wealthiest Black community in the country. We want to believe it can’t happen again – not in 2021.  But many communities, including our own Avondale, are facing extinction by gentrification and systemic exclusion.  Will it ever end?
