What IS a Small Group?
A Small Group is
a group of First Church members who get together on a monthly basis
to discuss what’s important in life in the larger sense. The Program
is one of many ongoing activities carried on by Church members to
round out and fill in membership and make it as meaningful as
possible.
Why should I join a Small Group?
You will have
the opportunity to meet other members that you would not otherwise
meet, in an atmosphere that is much more relaxed and conducive to
close understandings than you find during an after-service coffee
hour. You will be able to ask questions and provide answers about
subjects that you’ve always wanted to talk about. You will develop
warm and strongly-held supportive relationships with others in a
deeply satisfying way that everyday life often fails to provide.
What does a Small Group do?
The members work
up and operate by a "covenant" concerning how they want to interact.
This is a set of "soft rules" concerning not interrupting, listening
attentively, not making side-comments, etc. The Group discusses
topics of its own choosing and agrees on how these topics are to be
generated and dealt with. Everyone’s opinion counts. Arguments and
chit-chat are to be avoided.
How do I sign up?
