Small Group Sign-Ups

The Small Group Ministry Committee Offers A Year of Seeking and Sojourning

Many of us are Seekers on a religious journey, restless, questioning what we don’t understand, doubting what we find difficult to accept. Others of us are Sojourners, satisfied with where we are on our journey, accepting things as we find them. At any moment, we may shift, resolving old doubts or finding fault in our reasoning. Throughout our lives we will alternate between the two, the journey taking us into both new worlds and familiar places. The greatest gift of life is to have companions on our journey, to affirm and challenge us, to accept and inspire us.

After an eight-month hiatus, Small Group Ministry has returned to First Church. New groups are being formed and will start meeting in October. Sign up now. New applicants can join at any time and find warm welcome in either an established group or a new one.

Why should I join a Small Group? 

  • To get to know a group of people and yourself at a much deeper level.

  • To find fellow journeyers on your life path.

  • To share and participate in the ministry of one another at First Church

Things that will stay the same

  • Groups of six to ten people will meet monthly to discuss a variety of topics with a trained facilitator.

  • Each group will create a covenant of how they will be together.

  • Each group will offer some kind of service to the church or the community.

Things that will be added to the program

  • All facilitators will receive training before accepting their role.

  • A list of suggested topics – A Year of Seeking and Sojourning – will be available, along with readings and starter questions.

  • The year will culminate next September in a banquet for all small group participants to celebrate and share their experiences.
